Where can I get Rocker Bottom Soles at?

I hurt my toe and was prescribed rocker bottom soles to be installed on a pair or shoes. Should I just go to a local shoe maker or is there a special place to go to to handle the prescription.

Where can I get Rocker Bottom Soles at?
The term 'rocker bottom' is podiatry code for a shoe that is angled at the heel and at the toe.

Rocker bottom shoes help your foot to roll smoothly from heel to toe gradually and reduce the amount of toe flexion required for propulsion.

Having rocker bottoms installed in your shoes is a costly exercise and it might well be cheaper to just buy a new pair of shoes.

When your are out looking, check the flexibility of the shoe as you will want one that is quite firm. Place the shoe on a flat surface and then check the distance the heel and toe lie off the ground for its 'rocker' ability. Try each shoe on and go for a walk. Some 'rock' better than others and it will be quite apparent if you go for a run in the shoes by the reduction in foot fall noise, and the relief it will provide your big toe.

There are special medical style rocker bottom shoes out there, but these are generally aimed at the elderly.

MBT Masai shoes are probably the most common (and extreme) rocker bottoms however they can be quite expensive.

Check out your local shoe shops first and ask for a knowledgable assistant to give you a hand trying on a range of shoes.

Goodluck!
