How do I paint shirts.?

Is there any special process that I have to go through like when painting shoes? What type of paint? Is there anything else I need to know? thanks

How do I paint shirts.?
It sorta depends on what style you are going for. If you want colour, use tye dye. But if you want words and pictures go for craft store fabric paint AKA puff paint. If really spiffy because it puffs up while it dries but you have to be careful when washing it because it will crack in the wash and dryer. Try to hand wash and air dry the shirts if you want them to last long.

PS. If the shirt is form fitting and for a female, try to stay away from the bust line.

Reply:I've always heard the process is called Silk Screening. Their are books on it in the local library and also at craft books web sites. Try Googleing Silk Screening

Reply:There was a relatively simple process that I learned in 9th grade art. It involved cutting figures out of newsprint (newspaper before the news is printed on it) to make a sort of stensil, placing this over the shirt, putting a mesh screen over it and using a piece of wood that was about twelve by five inches, an inch thick and rounded along the length on one side to smooth the paint over it. The paint would go through the spaces in the paper onto the shirt, leaving behind the shape of the figures that were cut from the paper. I stuck to simple lettering and musical notes, but some of the more creative students were able to make very nice silhouettes of statues and other interesting things.
Reply:If it's t-shirt and you want to put painted items (pictures-letters) on it best way is silk screening. It's simple enough your hobby store should be able to explain what you'll need. hope that helps.
