What do you call it in politics when you create a situation on the ground that forces people to accept things?

that they normally would not?





Similar to like you child wanting a new pair of gym shoes and telling you that there was a super special sale on them at the mall and that a $60 pair of shoes can be had for as little as $20, and having you go to the mall thinking you would be getting a deal only to find out that you child lied to you and just wanted to get you at the mall at that store figuring that once you were there it would be easier for them to convince you to buy the $60 shoe?





There are some examples of this in american politics, and one very important and expensive one going on right now.

What do you call it in politics when you create a situation on the ground that forces people to accept things?
Negotiation, diplomacy, politics, business as usual.
